The PIQC Institute of Quality, usually referred to by its acronym PIQC, is an Institute located in Lahore and Karachi, Pakistan promoting Standardization and Quality culture in the country. It was founded in 1991 by a group of leading Quality Professionals and headed by its Chairman & CEO Dr. Kamran Moosa. PIQC is involved in dissemination of modern quality management knowledge and practices as well as developing professionals and researchers in this field through academic, professional and corporate development programs. Country-wide training is provided to around two thousand persons in a year totaling more than 40,000 persons from 1991-2011 . It holds an annual international c, onvention since 1995 known as International Convention on Quality Improvement (ICQI) as well as National Conference on Quality Education (NCQE) and has so far organized 18 such events for promoting national and international quality research work and best practices in the country. Professionals, policy makers and academicians present their research work which is available to anyone through PIQC’s website. PIQC is also a proctor and centre for examination in Pakistan for American Society for Quality (ASQ). PIQC’s academic and professional certifications are conducted with the collaborations of Superior Group of Colleges, Hamdard University, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Singapore Quality Institute International (SQII) and ICQC Singapore. PIQC also provides training in Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Middle East.
Organization
PIQC has two independent offices with training centers in Lahore and Karachi as well as local arrangement training arrangements in different cities. It is headed by its Chairman & CEO, followed by Chief Operating Officer, Head Academics, and two regional general managers. The organizational structure is based on two broad functions, i.e. Academic Programs and Corporate Development Programs. Academic Degree programs are offered with the collaboration of local universities in Lahore and Karachi, which are accredited by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC). These programs include Masters / MPhil & PhD in Quality Management, Human Resource Management and Industrial Management. The Corporate Training and Development Programs include all the key areas of Quality Management, including: ISO 9000 QMS, ISO 14000 EMS, OHSAS 18000, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Quality Management (TQM), Academic Quality Assurance (AQA) & Accreditation, National Quality Awards and Business Excellence Models, Japanese Tools of Quality Control, IRCA (UK) Registered Lead Auditor Courses, Total Productive Maintenance and Food Safety Management Systems. Conferences are organized by special conference committees comprising of national and international experts on even to event basis. These conferences are held in collaboration with the leading national and international stakeholders, i.e. Quality and Productivity Society of Pakistan (QPSP), Asian Network for Quality (ANQ) and Middle East Quality Association (MEQA) in addition to many national Quality associations, e.g. Indian Society for Quality, Bangladesh Society for Quality Managers, Iranian Society for Quality Managers, Saudi Quality Council.
