HEC director nominated for global award

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Director General Quality Assurance Zia Batool has been nominated for the International Award by Quality Congress for her outstanding contribution in Quality Assurance.

The nomination of the award titled ‘Global Award for Outstanding Contribution to Quality and Leadership’ has been finalised by the jury and board members of the council. She is the first Pakistani who has been nominated for this international award.
The World Quality Congress Awards 2014 is scheduled to be held on June 27 and 28, 2014 in Mumbai, India. She is alumna of University of Agriculture Faisalabad. She has been nominated for the award in recognition of the quality assurance practices of Higher Education Commission.
She has also been invited to share the quality assurance policies and practices of HEC, Pakistan as keynote speaker at the international quality assurance forum. The summit brings several global quality improvement leaders under one roof. The theme for the summit is ‘New Perspectives and Approaches to Quality — The Leadership Edge.’ This is considered to be an endorsement of the recent success in elections of Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN) in which HEC; Pakistan won the required number of votes from the Asia Pacific region countries to become a Board Member. The improved global rankings of Pakistani universities also reflect the similar quality assurance improvements and international visibility.
Zia Batool was appointed in the Higher Education Commission in November 2003. Previously, she has served as the advisor social sectors for the Ministry of Finance. She has earned a post-graduation degree in agriculture economics from University of Agriculture. She has also served at National Agricultural Research Centre.
